SAFER SPACES POLICY

​

Bremerton Zine Fest is a safer space, which means that we intend to create a welcoming environment where participants and attendees can enjoy an experience that is harassment & discrimination free. Participants and attendees should be aware of how their words and actions impact others and strive towards mutual respect.

 

By attending Bremerton Zine Fest, you agree to:

  • Be respectful of peoples’ opinions, beliefs, differing states of being and differing points of view.

  • Inquire about and respect the physical and emotional boundaries of others.

  • Always get explicit verbal consent before taking someone’s photo or crossing other personal boundaries.

  • Be responsible for your actions and aware that they may have an effect on others regardless of your original intent.

 

The following are prohibited and will not be tolerated:

  • Racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, ableism, transphobia, queerphobia, ageism, sizeism, religious intolerance and all other forms of discrimination

  • Sexual harassment, inappropriate/unwelcome comments/behaviors

  • Disrespectful or disruptive behavior

  • Theft of money or property

  • Physical, verbal, mental abuse or intimidation

  • Causing a participant or attendee to feel distressed or unsafe

 

Content of the participants of Bremerton Zine Fest is not pre-screened or censored prior to the event. We cannot promise to preemptively mute any oppressive or problematic behaviors by participants or attendees.

If individuals find certain materials to be oppressive or problematic, or if you witness or experience prohibited language or behaviors, please out to us for investigation and proper action. Bremerton Zine Fest reserves the right to ask anyone in violation of the safer space policy to reconcile their behavior and/or ask them to leave. 

 

A safe and respectful community is everyone’s responsibility. We encourage you to look out for one another and speak up if you see someone who might be in trouble or need assistance.
